Finance Manager

Role Overview
Ferox Partners are working with a growing, Southampton based business to recruit a hands on and delivery focused Finance Manager, to take ownership of the company’s core finance operations.
This role has been created following the retirement of a long-standing team member and forms part of a wider finance restructure. While strategic oversight is provided by a Fractional CFO, this position is firmly operational, requiring strong month end capability, financial control, and support for day to-day decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis
- Deliver a full month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain accurate balance sheet schedules and complete bank reconciliations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring
- Monitor cashflow, working capital, and debtor/creditor balances
- Lead the migration from Sage 50 to Xero and maintain clean ledgers post-migration
- Prepare VAT returns and support year-end accounts with external accountants
- Oversee and support the day-to-day work of the Finance Assistant
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant/ Finance Manager or Assistant Financial Controller role
- Strong, hands on month end experience within an SME environment
- Working knowledge of Xero (or Sage with system migration exposure)
- Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable
- Part qualified or qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent)
- Experience supporting finance system migrations
- Experience working alongside a Fractional CFO or external advisor
