Management Accountant

Job Title: Management Accountant (Part Qualified) 

Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 DOE, plus company benefits including Hybrid working, healthcare, employer pension contribution and much more.

Ferox Partners are recruiting for a Management Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established group business based in Segensworth. This one’s a genuinely interesting mix. It sits somewhere between a traditional management accounting role and a plant cost controller position, roughly a 50/50 split, so if you like variety and want to build broad, multi-entity experience, keep reading.

The Client

The Role

You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and Project Controllers, contributing to the monthly management accounts for the group’s largest entity while taking full ownership of the accounts for several smaller subsidiary companies at month and quarter end.

The early focus will be on helping the business better record, review and control the costs tied to its plant, equipment and personnel pools, so cost reporting and recoveries will be a big part of your first phase in the role.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Preparing and analysing management accounts for smaller subsidiaries, and owning these at month and quarter end
• Supporting the management accounts for the group’s largest company, including recoveries
• Monitoring and reviewing plant-related capital and operational spend, with analysis of actuals versus budget
• Preparing staff cost and recovery reports, and recharging staff time to projects
• Supporting VAT, CIS and other routine regulatory returns
• Preparing monthly cash flow reports
• Contributing to budgeting, forecasting and year-end statutory accounts and audit

What We’re Looking For

• At least 3 years’ experience in an Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Studying towards, or planning to study towards, CIMA, ACCA or ACA
• Solid month-end experience, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Working knowledge of VAT, CIS and finance compliance requirements
• Intermediate Excel skills and strong attention to detail
• Group or multi-entity experience is a bonus, not a must

The Person

You’re strong on data accuracy, presentation and analysis. Not ‘big data’ analysis, just a clean, logical approach to handling numbers and making them make sense. You manage your own workload well, communicate clearly, and enjoy working across a finance team rather than in silo. You will need to be studying CIMA/ ACCA or ACA and have demonstrable experience in either project accounting, plant controller, management accounting or finance business partnering, assistant accounting. You will be the key person controlling the costs associated with thier services.
